Philippines - Earthquake (GDACS, NDRRMC, Media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 09 April 2017)

On 8 April 2017, three strong earthquakes occurred in main island of Luzon - Batangas province - with magnitudes ranged from 5.0 to 5.9 M and epicentre 100 km south of Manila. According to national authorities some building suffered minor damages and few were partially damaged. Also Landslides occurred near the cities of Batangas, Mabini, and Agoncillo. Temporally in the region there were recorded power cuts. Some general hospitals evacuated their patients temporary. So far there has been reported only one injured and no fatalities. More than 5 000 people have been evacuated from Mabini, San Luis, Bauan, Taal and Batanagas city, fearing strong aftershocks. As of 8 April the national authorities raised the alert status to RED ALERT to ensure a proper monitoring, coordination and response to the affected areas.
